FIRST STEPS AS AN AUTHOR Broadway, Nottingham 4 weeks from Friday 4th November Many people want to write, but becoming a published author can be a big challenge. This course is designed to give you all the support and advice you need to achieve your first publication, including an in-depth look at magazines, small presses and competitions, as well as ways that you can making writing pay. There will also be a host of exercises and feedback over four weeks, allowing you to submit two pieces of work to writing markets. WEEK ONE – THE WORLD OF MAGAZINES Including a practical activity to create a story for a magazine. WEEK TWO - THE WORLD OF COMPETITIONS Including group feedback time. WEEK THREE – THE WORLD OF SMALL PRESSES Including a group writing exercise to write a story for an anthology.
